Fashion156.com's Daily Trend Focus - A-line skirts

Today our Trend watch focuses on skirts of the A-line variety - or Umbrella skirts as Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquière called the version he showcased in New York last week. For the past 2 months now we have been shooting our AW 11/12 editorials and from July, Fashion156  - along with most magazines  - will be showcasing layers, huge heavy coats and autumn knits. The reason I therefore really enjoy scanning the Resort 2012 collections is for ideas that can be incorporated into summer wardrobes now.

After all the longer lengths and body-con dresses of previous season it is great to see skirts looking so desirable. It is a shape that was replicated in many of the pre-collections and both Preen and Louis Vuitton went for midi length. Suno was one of the stand out collections for me - the way they clash opposing prints is sublime - and their stiff, sticking out skirts which just hit the knee look contemporary and can be dressed up or really down.

Of course skirts are always around and looking at the streets I spotted the examples above which tap into the look a little (not a fan of the leather jackets to be honest)  and before someone comments - yes, the orange one is actually a dress - but the A-line cut works equally well for them too.
