The Fashion House
Way back in 2003 when I was (I think) ploughing away at my dreaded GCSE'S and attempting to memorise the equation for velocity and every utterance of Lenny and George in Of Mice and Men, a little known Gareth Pugh brightened my weekends when he featured on Channel Four's The Fashion House.
Derided since by Gareth "as the only other option to the dole", The Fashion House pitted 20 young fashion designers from four European countries against each other, with the opportunity to win an internship at a major European - you guessed it - fashion house. All I can remember are Gareth's (not quite embraced) trademark creations and another designers bikini cobbled together from Louis Vuitton insignia's.
I don't quite remember the outcome of the whole shebang, but now I can relive the whole experience - in house tantrums and all - and my formative teenage years, as channel four have thrown all eighteen episodes up on 4OD. The perfect viewing for a lazy weekend. Or evening.
