Stolen Moments - Sretsis AW10 Collection
I've always thought of Lladro as the porcelain version of Marmite; you either love the feminine, billowy figurines... or you hate them. For me, I'm sorry to say, that the cutesy frilliness feels more on the sickly side of sweet - which is why I was so surprised to fall for Sretsis' AW10 look-book.
The entire collection is inspired by Lladro, with sugared-almond pastel colours and floaty fabrics put on a pedestal. But it is the inspired styling of the shoot that really pulls on your heartstrings; the models seeming lighter than air, with wisps of cloths and hair raising up on some magical breeze. Somehow, the knowing reference to kitsch comes off as edgy, surely helped by the addition of the model's candy floss hair and a wicked 'Smitten Kitten' print. Perhaps it's time to rethink the Lladro loathing?
