Spooky Little Girl Like You...

The presence of the northern winter lurks nearby wherever Denise Grünstein lays her camera, and a chill seems to seep its way into each picture she takes. Sweden's celebrated knitwear designer Sandra Backlund's fifth collection was shot by Grünstein.

Hyper-saturated colours lay against an umbra or a curtain of mist characteristically in the eerie tales of her editorial and advertising work. However, her pictures become even more abstruse in the bright light of day, as shown in her fine art photographic series titled ‘Figure Out’.  This work was exhibited last month at the Galleri Charlotte Lund in Stockholm consisting of ten large-scale colour photographs along with her first video work entitled ‘Film Stills’.

Denise Grünstein, born in 1950 in Helsinki, lives and works in Stockholm.
