Maleonn Ma

Shanghai born and based creative Maleonn Ma is one of the most inspirational photographers I have ever come across. His works are carefully constructed with props and actors and are reminiscent of a theatrical set.

He combines modern day dress with old photographic stylistics. I find myself staring deeply, lost in the colours and tones. The pictures remind me of hand coloured photographs from the days when there was just black and white and one had to paint them to produce colour images. His images are filled with surreal and subtle humour like the one where a pig man is leaning on the model's shoulder on a floor filled with rats but the air is filled with bubbles, this picture never fails to put a smile on my face.
