Sonia Rykiel
Being the designer at the helm of Sonia Rykiel has got to be fun - even if the legendary French icon happens to be your watchful mum. Nathalie Rykiel clearly relishes the task, however, and unveiled a perky, sun-filled vision for Summer 2011.
Saying Rykiel's clothes are quirky but wearable is a fashion cliche on a par with describing Roberto Cavalli as having a slight fondness for animal print. Or Gareth Pugh's work as being a teensy bit dark . . .
But that's exactly what the collection came down to - a bubbly, colourful, entertaining blitz of seaside oranges and aquamarines, with plenty of colour blocking and bold graphic twists. And the show boasted that rarest of sights in Paris this week - happy, playful smiling models . . .
