Manuel Bolano
This latest collection from Spanish designer Manuel Bolano is very much my cup of tea with its pastel shades, florals and thick candy stripes. Even the odd boater hat is thrown in, something I have waxed lyrical about on here in the past.
The playful nature of the teddy bear heads from AW10/11 is evident in a more subtle manner, while the soft tones are also apparent over both collections. The combination of textures and prints is a visual delight, particularly with the blending of colours. I love the flowing silhouettes, as well as those clown-like trousers adding to the slightly whimsical feel. Bolano’s accompanying notes add an extra complexity, for example in the lines: “We learned that girls were women in disguise who understood love and even death, and that our job was to make the noise that fascinated them. They knew everything about us, and we knew nothing about them.”
All this translates into a wonderful collection - perfect inspiration for the summer.
