Omar Kashoura - LONDON show ROOMS Paris
Last week when I entered Omar's studio he was in full production as he fought the deadline of the LONDON show ROOMS in Paris. Frantically sewing and talking Omar chatted to me about the importance of the show ROOMS and what he was looking forward to about this trip. A trip which he kindly volunteered to document for Fashion156.
Looking at the images I have marked the NewGen installations' dates firmly on my calendar as I long to see Omar's AW11 collection up close and in full. Now over to Omar.
The London showrooms is an event established by the British Fashion Council, The Centre for Fashion Enterprise and Fashion East. It's a great initiative to take some of Londons hottest menswear designers to Paris to showcase collections to buyers. I feel super lucky to be involved!!!.
Whilst most designers present collections on a catwalk each season, there needs to be a window where we can present the collections on a rail, just as you would find in a shop, to the buyers.
The event took place in an old French gallery, the floor uneaven and wooden, so in leather soled CDG shoes I found myself slipping around a little!!, even towards some of the buyers.
Its great fun, with other designers, James Long, Lou Dalton, Katie Eary, Christopher Shannon, and Nasir Mazhar all in the same room, there was a real mixture of personalities, chit chat and music being played from our iPods.
This is one of my favourite pieces in the collection, the regiment cinch coat. Looks super luxurious in this oatmeal wool.
Back to London and on to Barcelona at the weekend, where we will present our Fall collection as guests designers.
