Kenyan Kangas Mash-Up

SUNO AW10/11

Bold colour, punchy print and Kenyan inspired detail best describe NY label Suno. Designed by Max Osterweis, the label is making its way over to London, represented by BPCM PR and is sure to become a big hit with print hungry stylists and anybody craving ethnic inspired trends with modern edge. The New York label, named after Osterweis’ mother, has been donned by Michelle Obama and instantly became a state side success, with supporters like Anna Wintour, style.com and Ikram Goldman; Suno is going to be huge.

Using traditional Kenyan textiles and local seamstresses, the traditional kangas cloth is utilised and re-worked to create ultra modern pieces that I crave to team with a basic vest and sporty lace-up wedges for summer. I love this yellow chevron print and the floral jacket with ruffle hem, which keeps the silhouette swingy and girlish.

Propelling the 'mishmash' print and texture trend forwards; tweeds, velvet, print and plaid intertwine and clash to create a young, energetic collection that I simply adore.
