Luxe Photography
I must admit I do have a weakness for classic luxe photography. The type of images that may grace the ad campaign of a more matriarchal fashion house such as Prada or Gucci. So imagine my delight when I stumbled upon the photography of Kalle Gustafsson.
Men lounge in a Rome-esque palazzo while young wealthy Hampton summer dwellers from the 50's embrace by their vintage car. Lovers blissfully melt into the sand and daydreams occur in the countryside.
His images have a richness to them, while modern they evoke the past. They remind me of a time before fashion became democratised when the industry was more closed. A time when wealth and luxury were grander.
However while luxe photography appears to be Kalle's staple, his photography is not limited by such parameters, as he explores more interpretative concepts. Though in my opinion I think the classic luxe element infiltrates all his images.
So while I await the feast of the SS11 ad campaigns I shall be using Kalle's work to sustain my hunger.
