Hat Affairs

As a self-confessed non-hat person, I seem to have been strangely drawn to them over the last year. First it was my love affair with the boater (which is by no means over), then the discovery of Noel Stewart headpieces, followed by a fascination with riding hats. Now I’ve turned my attention to my winter hat of choice, the (faux) fur hat.

Effortlessly elegant, especially teamed with a red lipstick, it’s just perfect for the wintry weather outside. I’m reminded of photographs of the old film stars, with that feeling of sophistication and the mentality of dressing up for the occasion. In fact, it only exposes my laziness in not dressing up enough really. Which in turn reminds me of Mr Salter’s Bring Back the Hat campaign from last year (it’s a cliché, but how time flies), and makes my New Year’s resolution #1 to don a hat for all occasions.
