Anna Dello Russo - F156's Fashion Hero of the Week!
The Fashion156 blog is undergoing a bit of a shake up. Summer is here and so I wanted to add some lightheartedness and a few fun posts.
First up is our new Fashion Hero of the Week 'award' - nothing too serious but just going out to someone we really admire for something as shallow as wearing an extraordinarily nice coat. Sorry, not trying to be flippant but F156 has been getting too serious recently and just want to balance things a little! But do not be alarmed, we will still be offering detailed show analysis, profiling new designers and bringing you all the latest fashion news - just as before.
I know we are all supposed to be rejecting as totally bad taste anything ostentatious and too 'out there', but with Couture season approaching and my forthcoming holiday to Italy on Sunday, I just wanted to shout out loud and proud, I am totally crazy about Anna Dello "no repeats" Russo!
Watch this video and weep as Anna admits she avoids ever being seen in the same outfit twice and we are not talking about some knock-off high street tat here. Ok some of the outfits first glimpse can have a whiff of the local market stall about them, but in a way it makes me like her even more! She seems to totally lack ego in the all the clips I have watched of her, but what comes through is her undying love for fashion and the joy of dressing up.
Sadly my holiday suitcase for Italy will be crammed with creased up old chinos, cotton shirts, some cut down shorts and not much else, (I hate shopping and have no time) but I will try to pack according to the rules of Anna - as seen in the video above - and hope some transformative Cinderalla magic bestows me.
Anna Dello Russo is currently Editor At Large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan. You can find out more on her great website, which features lots of the inspiring shoots she styled when Fashion Editor at Italian Vogue in the 90s.
