Ellery

Ellery is an Australian designer which I find with each season is demanding my attention further. The latest collection technically SS 11/12 in the Southern Hemisphere and landing here in the West somewhere between AW 11 and resort has a distinct painterly feel.

Brocade style patterns are recreated through lace overlayed upon oversized dinner jackets and a corseted dress. A silken peplum is placed over a chiffon maxi skirt, both within the soft pink colour gradient. Shirts are bibbed and protected by a transparent PVC layer. Panelled biker jackets and mod capes mark the direction of outerwear. Coarse bronze metallic tops and skirts are introduced, intermixed with black sheer adding a note of evening drama.

This collection has both a muted opulence and a leaning towards the casual allowing the perfect collision to occur.
