I was shot by Billy Kidd
Billy Kidd's fashion photography is something I suspect we shall soon see be seeing a gluttoney of as the industry tunes into his work. So far he has shot for Soma, Blackbook and Zink magazine as his fashion photography portfolio continues to grow.
He delivers images in colour and black and white with equal power. His use of colour sounds the credits images 'now in technicolour' to roll in your head. With his beauty editorials, it's as if he utilizes the directional make-up palette of the given shoots and applies it to his background. Colour also takes the form of seedy red lighting and watercolours as he uses it to set the mood.
His black and white imagery gives a subtle nod to the sexuality of a Helmut Newton photo merging it with the motion of a Richad Avedon image.
For me his appeal lies in how his images are both artisan yet raw.
