I love the fantastical nature of Andrei Amado's AW 11/12 collection. Jersey vests are placed over fur creating the image of a yeti in 80's workout clothes. The colour gradient is explored in rainbow-like fashion as fur is dip dyed in a pastel take on the favoured SS 11 hair of designers such as Meadham Kirchhoff. A skirt is given racoon frontal tail while the illusion of a pinafore is created with vest tops connecting to the hairy body suit.
Sculpted rounded shoulders are both teddy bear soft and warrior-esque. The human inclination for modesty and covering oneself juxtaposed with the openness and exposed world of nature is explored. There is regal tone to the collection notable in their dusted pink Grecian hair crowns. Having just graduated from the CSM MA, I look forward to seeing what Andrei Amado will do next.
