Ana Locking
After shamefully overlooking Japan Fashion Week, I've been determined to keep an eye on the smaller affairs showing away from the big guns of London, Paris, Milan and New York. Cibeles Fashion Week then, situated in Madrid, is another to add to the list, and Ana Locking another one to watch.
Having studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Madrid, Ana Gonzales founded Locking Shocking in 1996 - designing accessory and jewellery collections for the brand until it was dissolved in 2007. Ana showed her first collection under the Ana Locking banner for A/W 08/09, seizing the L'Oreal Paris award at Cibeles in the process. Both a mens and womenswear designer, a focus upon Ana's menswear from S/S 2010 reveals a directional play on basics.
Blazers are bulked up with American football shoulders, shorts are short in sheer and sheen and origami cuts, shocking pink two-piece suits and sheer rompers, coupled with what appear to be a leather kilt, and floral printed pieces, result in a collection bulging with singular pieces and whole looks that I'd love to get my hands on for Spring/Summer.
