Stumbling upon the work of Alfonso the other day as we prepared our new issue was a rather fate led moment as I observed a fashion illustrator with an affinity for sportswear.
In his sketches track stars position themselves towards a Marni SS11 look as basketball stars take a Christopher Shannon turn.
Subjects that lay somewhere between bee-keepers and field labourers dressed in turned up dungarees and gladiator sandals, nodding to ACNE SS11 as you imagine them trekking through the terrain.
Even when his subjects are dressed in more formal attire the most notable thing is that movement remains a priority as these designs refuse to remain rigid and flat and instead insist on creating an energy which I feel gives his drawings a 3D affect as they come alive on the page.
