Misted Visuals
Alan Chies is an emerging photographer who caught my attention with his dusted yet rich, soft, hazy visuals.
His images have an element of Californian nostalgism to them and in places his subjects evoke imagery of a girl living in the valley in the 60's.
I love his Brigitte Bardot meets 90's Versace girl in image two and how she reminds me of a playboy bunny in the magazine's earlier years. While his other girls are ad models and secretaries of the Mad Men variety as they add touches of mod to their 50's wardrobes. His men appear polished yet outdoorsy as they are propped against a grey screen and pose with movement for their portrait.
His palettes of blues, greens and greys add a hint of nature even though there is none present in the pictures. This combined with the clean and minimalist nature of his photography has earned Alan Chies a place on my favourites tab.
